Argentine Season Ends with San Lorenzo on Top

Oh, yeah, the Argentine Clausura championship ended this weekend, too, as San Lorenzo celebrated the title -- the 10th title in its history -- it wrapped up a week earlier. San Lorenzo extended its lead over second-place Boca Juniors with a 2-1 win at last-place Quilmes. After falling behind in the first half, Osmar Ferreyra responded with a free kick in the 62nd minute with a fantastic free kick before Andres Silvera wrapped up the match just before time, extending the club's lead at the top of the Clausura table to six points over Boca Juniors, which could only manage a 0-0 draw at home to Lanus.

Boca, knowing it had already lost the title, rested most of its starters ahead of the return leg of the Copa Libertadores final against Brazilian giant Gremio on Wednesday. The five-time Copa winner took the first leg 3-0 in Buenos Aires.
