No festivities in Toronto on Canada Day

The U.S. U-20s should take heart. As bad as they played in their 1-1 tie with South Korea on Saturday in Montreal, it could have been worse.

Host Canada opened play before a sellout crowd of almost 20,000 fans at Toronto's BMO Field -- on July 1, Canada Day no less -- and bombed. Dale Mitchell's U-20s fell to Chile, 3-0, in a match they were outshot 19-2.

Even without suspended star Alexis Sanchez made easy work of the young Canadians. Marcus Haber gifted Chile its first goal, misplaying a ball in the area for Nicolas Medina to knock home. Carlos Carmona and substitute Jaime Grondona added second-half goals.
