Manchester United's young American striker, Giuseppe Rossi, has been loaned to Serie A club Parma, which will be facing a stiff battle to avoid relegation for the remaining four months of the season.
Rossi had only just returned to Old Trafford after a disappointing loan spell with Newcastle United, where the 19-year old started just five games despite the Magpies' extensive injury problems.
Manager Sir Alex Ferguson only lent the talented Italian-American to Newcastle with the expectation he would play several games. Rossi should play many more games with Parma, the team where he signed
his first professional contract as a youth player. The former Italian giant is currently 19th in Serie A with just two wins in 19 matches. Parma went bankrupt in 2003 after parent Parmalat collapsed
due to an accounting scandal. The cash-strapped club is badly in need of some creativity and scoring power up front. Rossi was not expected to leave Old Trafford again this season; Ferguson had
repeatedly said he intended to keep Rossi until the end of the season in case of any unforeseen "pitfalls," during its title run. Rossi's departure leaves Ferguson with four natural forwards: Wayne
Rooney, Louis Saha, and Scandinavian veterans Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Henrik Larsson, who is currently on loan until March 12.
