If nothing else, Real Madrid's players are united in contempt of Ramon Calderon, after the club's president delivered a loose-lipped speech at a local university where he harshly criticized Real's
players-David Beckham in particular. In an hour-long meeting arranged by club captains Raul, Guti and Roberto Carlos, Beckham and others dug into Calderon for the shameful things he'd said about them.
Coach Fabio Capello and the rest of the squad were reportedly shocked and impressed at the way the normally mild-mannered Beckham hit back at the president, calling him "a liar" for saying he
had bought a house in Los Angeles before telling the club of his decision to move to MLS, and for telling students moving to the States was his last resort because no other clubs would have him. "You
have treated me with a total lack of respect," Becks said, something "my teammates will always have...but you never will now."
Beckham wasn't the only one taking shots at the president:
"That's enough s*** from your mouth," added another. "If you have anything to say about us, tell us to our faces." Raul, the club's long-serving captain, later told Spanish papers: "The president is
the president and can talk whenever he wants to, but his comments created bad feeling and were not appropriate."
