"Last year, we just did not have
enough depth and enough quality players and individuals," said FCI coach Shek Borkowski
. "This team in terms of experience, leadership and technical ability
is our best team ever. We lost five starters to injuries and international duty and these girls still found ways to win and outscore our opponents 75-5 in 15 matches. For me personally, this group
of players was very enjoyable to work with."
Both Indiana and New England had prevailed over Ajax America and Tampa Bay, respectively, on penalty kicks after their game ended in a 1-1
tie. WPSL FINAL: July 29 in Tampa FC Indiana 3 New England 0.
