RSL Argentines May Play Saturday

In the latest edition of the MLS Power Rankings, beside the name of last place Real Salt Lake, the ESPN Soccernet staff writes: "Weren't they supposed to bring in some fresh talent?" Yes, they were, but, no, they have not: Jason Kreis and company were testing out a trio of Argentines but have not as yet added anyone new-and the MLS international transfer deadline has passed.

No matter, team and league officials said they've already received the proper documentation from striker Edgar Espindola, midfielder Javier Morales and defender Matias Mantilla; they are technically RSL players, but they can't officially join the club until the U.S. Immigration Bureau issues them work visas.

Spokesman Trey FitzGerald said that John Ellinger, who is leaving his post as RSL technical director, "has been assured" by the league and by immigration attorneys that the players will be given the appropriate visas; as for whether or not they'll start Saturday's clash against the Chicago Fire, coach Jason Kreis said, "That, I'm not telling you."
