Busy Beckham faces Germany after Red Bulls

David Beckham has set the bar high for the rest of the season after delivering a commanding performance in his first start for the L.A. Galaxy during Wednesday's SuperLiga semifinal win. However, Reuters points out that the England international next week embarks on a grueling traveling schedule as he tries to balance playing for both club and country.

Beckham's next match with the Galaxy is away to the New York Red Bulls on Saturday night. After that, Beckman flies from New York to London to play against Germany at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday. The next morning he flies back to L.A. "I think I arrive at 12 o'clock and we've got a game [against Chivas USA] that evening so hopefully I will be physically ready to play some part in that game as well," he said. That would be two games in 24 hours on a bum left ankle.

Speaking of that ankle, Becks said it swelled up a little following his man-of-the-match performance against D.C. United, but it feels "a lot better than it did after the previous match." The 32-year-old was confident he would play some part against the Red Bulls on Saturday night. "Hopefully I will get a half a game or maybe more (on Saturday) but we will have to see how it reacts after traveling to New York," he said.
