Klinsmann to Replace Yallop in L.A.?

Following back-to-back 3-0 defeats and a winless streak extending back to before the All-Star break, the L.A. Galaxy is operating in emergency mode. Coach Frank Yallop is still in charge despite guiding his team to just three wins in 18 MLS games. However, he may not be around for long, says the London Times, whose sources claim that Jürgen Klinsmann could be Yallop's successor.

"AEG powerbrokers are believed to have sounded out the former Tottenham Hotspur forward," the report says. "California Klinsi" (as he's called by the German media), has been offered countless jobs in Europe, but the former World Cup winner doesn't want to leave his Orange County home, which is just a 20 minute from the Galaxy's training center in Carson, Calif. He's also believed to be after a high profile job. Surely there's no more high profile job on the continent than head coach of the L.A. Galaxy.

The speculative Times report says that Klinsmann, unlike Yallop, would be unafraid of making "footballing" decisions, like telling both Beckham and club management that he wasn't fit to play in last Thursday's 3-0 defeat at home Chivas USA. Then Beckham would have been available for yesterday's match against Colorado, which also ended 3-0 in favor of the other team.
