Canada selects five collegians for 2007 Women's World Cup

Five players with remaining college eligibility are headed to China to represent Canada at the 2007 Women's World Cup, which will take place Sept. 10-30. Selected were Melanie Booth (Florida), Robyn Gayle (North Carolina), Diana Matheson (Princeton), Kara Lang (UCLA) and Sophie Schmidt (Portland).

Canada plays its first World Cup game on Sept. 12 against Norway in Hangzhou. Canada then meets Ghana on Sept. 15 and Australia on Sept. 19 in Chengdu.

CANADA SQUAD:
Goalkeepers: Erin McLeod, Karina Leblanc, Taryn Swiatek.
Defenders: Melanie Booth (Florida), Candace Chapman, Melissa Tancredi, Randee Hermus, Robyn Gayle (North Carolina), Tanya Dennis.
Midfielders: Amy Walsh, Andrea Neil, Diana Matheson (Princeton), Kara Lang (UCLA), Kristina Kiss, Martina Franko, Rhian Wilkinson, Sophie Schmidt (Portland).
Forwards: Brittany Timko, Christine Sinclair, Jodi-Ann Robinson, Katie Thorlakson.
