Klinsmann Would Be Right for L.A.

The Times of London earlier this week speculated that the L.A. Galaxy might be lining up Juergen Klinsmann to replace Frank Yallop as head coach. The Boston Globe's Frank Dell'Apa and others believe Klinsmann would not be enough to help save the beleaguered MLS outfit's 2007 season -- although adding him as coach would be a step in the right direction.

If Anschutz Entertainment Group is indeed looking to replace Yallop (the sports giant has not denied the rumors), Klinsmann would be an obvious choice. For one thing, the German resides in Newport Beach, Calif. For another, as a former World Cup winner as a player, Klinsmann would be far better equipped to handle the Beckham celebrity situation.

Dell'Apa says it's doubtful that Klinsmann would allow Beckham to do as much traveling as he is given his sensitive ankle situation. Dell'Apa says that after tonight's SuperLiga final, the Galaxy should give up hope of making the playoffs and start rebuilding for next year, to protect their investment in Becks "instead of exposing him to burnout commitments."
