Soccer America Women's Player of the Week

Purdue senior Shauna Stapleton, whose three-goal performance over the weekend included the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over then-No. 1 Portland, is the Soccer America Women's Player of the Week for games played Sept. 4-9.
Stapleton's first multi-goal game of her career Friday against host Washington at the Nike/Husky Invitational came when she knocked in a direct free kick from 35 yards away and twisted a corner kick inside the far post -- the second time in her career that she scored off a free kick.
The midfielder from Dayton, Ohio, delivered her biggest goal of the weekend Sunday against Portland, heading in the game-winner in the 58th minute. Her goal came less than a minute after Boilermaker Zarinah Blockton was red carded.
