[MONDAY ACTION] Katie Larkin
's goal with 15 minutes remaining gave BYU a 1-0 victory over Pacific -- the third time in six games the Cougars, ranked No. 16 in
the Soccer America Women's Top 25, have won, 1-0, on a Larkin goal.
The junior's goal was her fourth game-winning goal for BYU, which is 5-0-1. Goalie Erika
, BYU's career shutout record holder, has yet to concede a goal this season and leads the nation with a 0.00 goals-against average after six starts.
"Pacific is a great
team and they really came out quick," BYU coach Jennifer Rockwood
said. "Andrea Willis
and Jessica Harmon-Carter
are tough to get past, though, let alone Woodbury. We really have to attribute our success to our overall team defense."
Pacific frustrated the BYU
attack, which launched 20 shots. It didn't look like it was going to be BYU's evening when Katie Fellows
hit a header off the crossbar and had two other
headers miss by only a few feet minutes part in the second half.
An unmarked Larkin finally decided the issue with a goal after being fed by Carolyn
"It felt so good," Larkin said. "We held our breath for a bit, but it was nice to knock it in and take a little pressure off for the last part of the game."
