Wheaton women extend streak to 26 straight wins

[SMALL COLLEGE WOMEN] Wheaton (Ill.) remained undefeated with a 2-0 win over Trinity (Texas) on Monday night at Joe Bean Stadium. The win was Wheaton's 26th consecutive victory, tying the Thunder with Heidelberg for the fourth longest win-streak in NCAA Division III history.

Wheaton sophomore Taryne Lee broke a scoreless tie in the 43rd minute when she scored her sixth goal of the season. Brittany Bergh added an insurance goal, her third of the season, for the top-ranked Thunder.

The surprise in the South this season has been Armstrong Atlantic State, which beat regional NCAA Division II women's power Carson-Newman, 3-1, on a hat trick by sophomore Kristin Burton and followed up on that win with a 2-0 victory over Catawba and a 5-0 win over Clayton State. Burton added three more goals to give her eight in five games.

The fall has been quick for Rochester's women's team. The The Yellowjackets won their first three games of the season to climb into the No. 5 spot in the NCAA Division III rankings, but they have lost their next three games, most recently a 2-1 decision to neighbor RIT on Tuesday.
