[SMALL COLLEGE WOMEN]
Wheaton (Ill.) remained undefeated with a 2-0 win over Trinity (Texas) on Monday night at Joe Bean Stadium. The win was Wheaton's 26th
consecutive victory, tying the Thunder with Heidelberg for the fourth longest win-streak in NCAA Division III history.
Wheaton sophomore Taryne Lee
broke a scoreless tie in the 43rd minute when she scored her sixth goal of the season. Brittany Bergh
added an insurance goal, her third of the season, for
the top-ranked Thunder.
The surprise in the South this season has been Armstrong Atlantic State, which beat regional NCAA Division II women's power Carson-Newman, 3-1, on a
hat trick by sophomore Kristin Burton
and followed up on that win with a 2-0 victory over Catawba and a 5-0 win over Clayton State. Burton added three more
goals to give her eight in five games.
The fall has been quick for Rochester's women's team. The The Yellowjackets won their first three games of the season to climb into
the No. 5 spot in the NCAA Division III rankings, but they have lost their next three games, most recently a 2-1 decision to neighbor RIT on Tuesday.
