Bobby Convey injured in training

[AMERICANS IN ENGLAND] Two days after scoring for Reading in its 4-2 English League Cup loss to Liverpool, midfielder Bobby Convey limped off the practice field with a leg injury. Preliminary reports indicate Convey won't be available this weekend, when he was hoping to make his first English Premier League start in 11 games. Convey, who was used as a sub in five EPL games this season, missed most of last season with a knee injury, appearing in only nine games (one start).

Convey's League Cup performance had made a start on Saturday against Portsmouth look likely.

"Bobby has tweaked something right at the top of his leg," Reading coach Steve Coppell told the Associated Press. "He is massively disappointed. That will take him out of contention, I would think, for the weekend."

Convey had knee surgeries in December and March. He joined Reading from D.C. United in 2004 and has eight goals in 86 appearances in all competitions for the Reading, which won promotion to the EPL during his season season, 2005-06.
