Virginia women extend unbeaten streak to 10 games

[TOP 25 WOMEN'S ACTION] No. 4 Virginia extended its unbeaten streak to 10 games with a 3-0 victory over N.C. State Thursday afternoon at Method Road Stadium.

Shannon Foley had a goal on a late breakaway and two assists on early goals by Sarah Senty and Kelly Quinn for the Cavaliers, who improved to 9-1-3 overall and 3-0-2 in the ACC.
 
"It was good to get an early goal today," said Virginia coach Steve Swanson. "That calmed us and gave us some confidence. I thought as the game went on that we played better and better. We had a good tempo in the second half."

MIAMI (FLA.)-BOSTON COLLEGE (1-0). The Eagles fell for the first time this season on an own goal in the 89th minute. Freshman sensation Brittney Steinbruch sent a cross into the box that was deflected into the goal by a BC player to give the Hurricanes the ACC victory.
 
BYU-TCU (4-1). The No. 15 Cougars improved to 11-0-2 with a comfortable victory -- for a change. All four BYU goals came in the first half. Player of the Year candidate Katie Larkin scored her 11th and 12th goals of the season in the game, along with her 10th game-winner.

FLORIDA STATE-MARYLAND (2-0). No. 15 Seminoles got goals from Finnish international Sanna Talonen and Becky Edwards to tun their ACC unbeaten streak to four games, Maryland fell to 0-4-0 in conference play.

VIRGINIA TECH-CLEMSON (1-1). The No. 21 Tigers were a minute away from getting out of Blacksburg with a victory, but Marika Gary tied the game for the Hokies. Courtney Foster had put Clemson ahead the 64th minute.
