[VIDEO] In the Portuguese League Cup on Saturday,
Freddy Adu scored his second goal since joining Benfica. He struck from 18 yards after
running on to a long pass from Benfica's goalkeeper that was deflected into his path. The 18-year-old's goal tied the game against Vitoria Setubal in the 71st minute and Benfica won the penalty-kick
shootout to reach the third round.
Adu, whose league play has been limited to an 11-minute appearance off the bench, scored his first goal for the club in the previous League Cup round,
when he equalized late in the game from the penalty spot.
Adu earned his second U.S. cap last Wednesday in a 1-0 win over Switzerland. He has made four Benfica appearances in all
competitions. His first was as a sub in a Champions League preliminary round game.
