Tennessee, Georgia and Florida remain close

[SEC UPDATE]
Quite a race is shaping up in the Southeastern Conference's Eastern Division, where three ranked teams are battling for the regular-season title.

No. 17 Tennessee (7-1-1), No. 21 Georgia (6-1-2) and No. 22 Florida (6-2-0) all won Thursday night.

Tennessee escaped from rainy Tuscaloosa with a 2-1 win over Alabama thanks to a goal from junior forward Kylee Rossi in the 86th minute.

"It was a great goal by Kylee Rossi," UT coach Angela Kelly said. "We're just toughing it out."

Rossi's goal on a curling shot from 20 yards set up a wild finish as the Lady Vols missed a penalty kick a minute later and then scrambled to clear a ball off the line to preserve the win.

The Lady Vols, who extended their winning streak to five matches with the win, close out their 2007 home schedule on Sunday against Auburn.

Georgia twice came back from one goal down to win at Auburn, 3-2.

Carrie Patterson scored twice, tying the game at 1-1 in the 58th minute and at 2-2 in the 81st minute before Natalie Farley scored the game-winner  in the 83rd minute, connecting from 25 yards out for her first goal of the season.

Florida's 1-0 win at Arkansas on Ashley Harris' diving header was its sixth consecutive and the fifth shutout during that stretch.

"They put a lot of pressure on us in terms of getting numbers behind the ball," Florida coach Becky Burleigh said. "We are happy to get out of here with a win."

On Sunday, the Gators host Western Division leader LSU (TV: FSN-Florida, live, noon ET).

The Eastern Division title may be decided on Nov. 2 when Georgia hosts Tennessee.
