Unranked North Carolina beat No. 20 Duke, 1-0, Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament and kept alive its slim hopes of
being considered for the NCAA Tournament.
Junior Michael Callahan
scored in the 13th minute and Tar Heel defense limited Duke to just six shots to
earn the victory.
With the win, the Carolina advances to Friday's semifinals against top-ranked Wake Forest.
With a 7-7-5 record, UNC must beat Wake or lose in a shootout to be
assured of finishing with a record of .500 or better and therefore be eligible for consideration for an NCAA Tournament bid.
