Ibra to Become World's Richest

Kaka may be the favorite to win this year's Golden Ball and FIFA World Player of the Year awards, but he certainly won't be soccer's highest- paid player. It looks like that title will be going to Inter Milan's Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Football Italia says the Swede is now lining up a deal worth $16 million per year, which is more than double his current salary, believed to be a little less than $7 million. The deal would make Zlatan the world's highest paid player. Said agent Mino Raiola: "Relations with Inter are excellent, but we aren't ready to sign a new contract." Real Madrid was also reportedly in the hunt for Ibrahimovic's signature.

Cross-town rival AC Milan is also preparing a new contract for its biggest star. On Dec. 2, the day he's expected to receive the Golden Ball, Kaka will sign a new deal worth $13 million per year that would keep him with the Rossoneri until 2012. The Brazilian is currently the highest paid player in Serie A, earning an estimated $8 million per year. Milan vice president Adriano Galliani insists that his star is superior to Inter's Zlatan. "In 2007, Kaka was overwhelmingly superior to Ibrahimovic," Galliani said. "I just hope that in December, Kaka ends up with the Ballon d'Or and the Club World Cup."
