Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has issued a "come and get me" call to the English Football Association as it searches for a new coach to replace Steve McClaren, who was sacked six days ago. In
an interview with British tabloid The Sun, Mourinho suggested he would be interested in an offer from the FA -- an incredible U-turn considering that the Portuguese had been asked repeatedly but
denied any interest in coaching an international team while McClaren was still England manager.
"You will have to speak to the FA to see if they are interested in offering me the
job," Mourinho said. "I cannot say what I think until they say they are interested."
"Tell the FA to come and get me," he added. "We will have to wait and see, but I rule nothing out."
Following his comments, one leading British bookmaker cut the odds of Mourinho getting the job to just 2 to 1 -- others have stopped taking bets that the self-described "Special One" would
eventually assume the role as England coach.
