Alex McLeish will make his English Premier League debut as the new Birmingham City manager on Sunday when the Blues travel to London to face Tottenham.
McLeish stepped down as Scotland national team coach after the end of its Euro '08 qualifying campaign to replace Steve Bruce, who left to fill the Wigan Athletic vacancy. While McLeish's coaching experience has been restricted to Scotland, he is quite familiar with the English game. "If I wasn't at a game," he said, "there was nothing like settling down on a Sunday and watching three or four games in a row."
With one of the youngest teams in the EPL, Birmingham has slumped to six losses in its last seven games and fallen to a tie for 15th place, leaving it one point above the relegation zone. "I know that Birmingham added some young players in the summer as Steve Bruce wanted to take a youthful approach," he said. "It is up to them to show what they can do and to show that they can be Premiership players. There are a lot of young players here who have to realize their potential."

AC Milan is still looking for its first Serie A win of the season when it hosts Juventus on Saturday. Milan is ninth in Serie A, 11 points behind leader Inter Milan and nine behind second-place Juve, because of its poor form at home, where it has four ties and two losses in six games.
Juve, which is coming off a 5-0 win over Palermo, is eager to extend Milan's misery. "We must play with humility," French striker David Trezeguet said, "but with the knowledge that we are inferior to no one. We are going to the San Siro to win."
Trezeguet has scored 11 goals this season but faces competition for playing time up front from Alessandro Del Piero, who scored twice off the bench against Palermo, and Italy striker Vincenzo Iaquinta, who has scored six league goals this season.

Lanus can clinch its first Argentine league championship with win or tie when it travels to Boca Juniors on Sunday.
Lanus moved within a point of the Torneo Apertura title on Wednesday, beating Gimnasia y Esgrima, 4-0. Tigre, which won promotion this year and has never won the title, eliminated Boca with a 2-1 victory. Both games were moved forward because Boca will be in Japan for the Cup World Cup when the final round of the Torneo Apertura is played on Dec. 9.
