Hornbacher steps down at Iowa State

Rebecca Hornbacher, the winningest women's coach in Iowa State history, has resigned after six seasons.

She led the Cyclones to 45 wins and the program's only trip to the NCAA tournament in 2005. Iowa State finished with an 8-7-4 record and a berth in the 2007 Big 12 Conference tournament, where it fell to top-seed Texas A&M in a shootout.

"I am getting married this spring so it's an appropriate time to make a lifestyle change and turn the page on my personal story," Hornbacher said. "I will be moving to Omaha to be closer to my family and to start my future with my fiancé."

Her tenure in Ames was marred by two drunk driving convictions.
