Simoes returns to coach Reggae Boyz (and Girlz)

Brazilian Rene Simoes, who coached Jamaica to its greatest achievement when it played in the 1998 World Cup, is returning as coach of the Reggae Boyz.

Simoes replaces Bora Milutinovic, who was fired last month, and will bring a Brazilian coaching staff that includes Glydston Ananias, Alfredo Montesso and goalkeeper coach Chio Santos.

Simoes will be responsible for both Jamaica's men's and women's teams. He coached Brazil to the silver medal in the 2004 Olympic women's soccer competition in Athens behind the USA.

After coaching Jamaica, he had short stints as the coach of the Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago national teams. Since the '04 Olympics, he worked as the Iranian U-23 coach and coach of Brazilian clubs Vitoria and Coritiba.
