Then, two weeks ago, the Brazilian finally made his season debut, only to fall victim to another niggling injury in training a few days later -- this time, a calf strain.

The three-time former World Player of the Year is now a serious doubt for this week's Club World Cup semifinal in Yokohama, Japan. "What annoys him is he doesn't feel part of the side when he's not playing," teammate Kaka told reporters. "During training, we talk to him a lot to help him feel involved. We don't know how long he will be out but we haven't lost hope of seeing him take part in this tournament."

"We talk to Ronaldo often but we never mention injuries," the Ballon d'Or winner added. "The calf is still hurting him but the medical staff are working hard to cure the problem." Ronaldo has had bad luck with injuries throughout his career. He missed nearly two years of competitive with Inter Milan before leading Brazil to the 2002 World Cup title. Ronaldo also suffered a variety of injuries in his time at Real Madrid, and now, at AC Milan.
