Bolton striker Nicolas Anelka will be one of the most sought-after players when the transfer window opens on Jan. 1. Several clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City, have expressed interest in the Frenchman, who just signed a contract extension with Bolton. Of course, contracts mean very little these days, especially to the aforementioned clubs, who can afford to buy them out.

Manchester City manager Sven Goran Eriksson, who is definitely on the lookout for a new striker, is one of Anelka's most public admirers. "Anelka is a fantastic footballer," the Swede said. "He is one of those players who has everything. He has technique, pace and can score goals. What more would you want from a striker?" Manchester City will play Bolton at home Saturday.

The well-traveled Anelka played two and half seasons for City (2002-2005) before moving to Fenerbahce in Turkey. He scored 38 goals in 89 appearances at City.
