Liverpool will be doing a North American tour next summer and one of its major stops may be the 2008 MLS All-Star game, according to the Daily Mail. The club's American owners Tom Hicks and George
Gillett have been approached MLS to be part of the gala event, which will be held at Toronto FC's BMO Field in July of next year. The Canadian MLS team was one of the league's most successful clubs
last season, selling out each of its home matches in 2007.
If Liverpool acquiesces, sponsor Carlsberg would be one of the big winners, as the beer maker sponsors both the Reds and
Toronto FC. A tour of Canada would be familiar territory to co-owner Gillett, who also owns the National Hockey League franchise, the Montreal Canadiens. Recently, MLS commissioner Don Garber hinted
that Montreal was a leading candidate to be an expansion franchise in the near future. No doubt MLS would love to talk to Gillett about that one.
