Romario gets 120-day ban

Brazilian Romario's hair-loss treatment defense didn't fly.

The 1994 World Cup champion was banned for 120 days on Tuesday for failing a drug test which he blamed on a hair-loss treatment that he had been taking for some time.

The 41-year-old tested positive for the banned masking agent finasterid, which was added to the list of banned substances in 2005.

Romario scored what he claimed to be his 1,000th goal in May and was named player-coach of Vasco da Gama two days after announcing the result of the test.
