[TRANSFER TALK] Two days after
Dimitar Berbatov scored four goals for Tottenham in its 6-4 win over Reading in the
English Premier League, his agent said the Bulgarian would be prepared to leave Spurs in January's transfer window if a suitable club made an offer.
"I have already spoken to the
Tottenham chairman,
Daniel Levy, and told him that if a club that corresponds to Dimitar's class and ambition comes in with an offer that suits his current
club in January he would like to be allowed to go,"
Emil Dantchev told the
Sun. "Fans must understand that Dimitar
is 27 next month, and time is running out for him to play for a club that can match his ambition. I would like to stress this is not about money. This is about sporting ambition."
The
26-year-old Berbatov has scored eight EPL goals this season to give him 20 since joining Tottenham from Bayer Leverkusen in a $22 million transfer a year and a half ago. He was named to the PFA's
all-EPL team in his first season in England.
Berbatov, who learned English watching the
Godfather movies, is one of several strikers who head the
list of targets of the EPL's top clubs.
Frenchman
Nicolas Anelka of Bolton Wanderers and Croatian forward
Luka
Modric of Dinamo Zagreb could also possibly move in major transfers during the January signing window.
