Several European clubs, according to Chivas USA President Shawn Hunter, want Chivas USA's Brad Guzan, the 2007 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year. Guzan, 24, is in the final year of his three-year contract
with MLS. Some clubs want to sign him before the European transfer window closes at the end of January; others are prepared to wait until the summer.
"We have multiple offers from multiple
teams," Hunter said, though he wouldn't comment on which clubs were in question. Chivas, meanwhile, has yet to offer Guzan a contract extension, suggesting the club might be prepared to cut their
losses with a nice transfer fee. The L.A. Times says Scottish side Celtic is one of the clubs chasing Guzan's signature.
Separately, Hunter tells the Times that Chivas is interested in
trading for an MLS designated player slot. Chivas traded its DP slot last year to the New York Red Bulls in exchange for Amado Guevara, who was later loaned to Honduran club Motagua. "Our first choice
is still to find a player from Mexico," Hunter said of Chivas' acquisition plans.
