Former U.S. under-17 national team star Jared Jeffrey
assisted on Belgian co-leader Club Brugge's only
goal in Sunday's 4-1 loss to Antalyaspor in Turkey.
Jeffrey, who started and set up Karel Geraerts
, is on trial with the Belgian club, which is
tied with Oguchi Onyewu's Standard Liege at the midwinter break. Brugge is training for the restart on Jan. 19 in Turkey and ordered its players to not go into 50-50 balls so as to not be injured.
A second friendly game is set for Thursday before Brugge returns to Belgium.
Brugge first spotted Jeffrey, 17, when he played against its youth team during the U.S. U-17s' trip
to Europe last summer. He also played against Belgium at the Under-17 World Cup in South Korea.
Jeffrey, who hails from Dallas, was the only trialist Brugge took to Turkey.
