Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster accused Barcelona of treating star players like Ronaldinho poorly, and cited that as the reason that he himself left the club. "It is very unjust. They are doing the
same thing to Ronaldinho that they did to me," he said, adding: "It is not difficult to forget that all the best players that have played there in the last 30 years have all left via the back
door." Schuster played eight years at Barcelona before moving to Real Madrid in 1988. "Nobody ended their time there well and our exit was ugly," he said.
Ronaldinho has been highly
criticized in the Catalan press this season for poor form and fitness. "I am not going to deny that his level has dropped in the past few months, but at his age it is ridiculous to say that he is
finished," Schuster said, pointing to how the Brazilian changed Barcelona's fortunes, helping the club win the Champions League and two league titles.
"I really feel for him," the German
added. "The worse thing is knowing how things are done at Barca and that he is not the first and will not be the last to receive this treatment."
