4. RECRUITING: UW lands McLoughlin for '08

Washington coach Dean Wurzberger landed Ellis McLoughlin, one of the top forward prospects on the U.S. U-17 national team, for the 2008 season.

McLoughlin will join UW in January 2008 due to his academic schedule and his possible participation in the Under-17 World Cup Aug.18-Sept. 9 in South Korea. He is currently in the Under-17 Residency Program in Bradenton, Fla., after having played for Seattle's Bishop Blanchet High School and Crossfire, five-time Washington state champion.

Said Wurzberger, "Securing the late commitment from Ellis McLoughlin was the final piece we needed to rank this 2007 class as one of the best in recent UW memory."

Also signed were Brad Keller (Scottsdale, Ariz.), Beau Macaluso (Tacoma, Wash.), Taylor Mueller (Sammamish, Wash.), and Matt Van Houten (Beaverton, Ore.).
