2. AMERICANS ABROAD: Friedel shines against Arsenal

Blackburn's Brad Friedel made spectacular late-game saves on efforts by Arsenal's Tomas Rosicky, Thierry Henry and Justin Hoyte to earn a 0-0 tie for Rovers and set up a replay of the fifth round FA Cup clash.

Also earning a replay against an EPL power (Manchester United), was Reading, whose regular starter in goal, Marcus Hahnemann, rested in the 1-1 tie while Bobby Convey started and went 71 minutes.

Fulham was thumped, 4-0, in FA Cup play by Tottenham. For Fulham, Brian McBride started and played 62 minutes; Clint Dempsey was a 67th minute sub; Carlos Bocanegra was an unused sub.

Watford, with Jay DeMerit going the full 90, beat Ipswich, 1-0 to reach the FA Cup quarterfinals. DaMarcus Beasley did not see action as Manchester City reached the quarterfinals with a 3-1 win at second-tier Preston.

In Germany, Kamini Hill made his third Bundesliga appearance when he came on as an 80th minute sub. He drew the foul for the last-minute free kick that resulted in Wolfsburg's equalizer (by Marcelinho) in a 2-2 tie with league leader Schalke 04.

Goalkeeper Kasey Keller went down, 1-0, with Borussia Moenchengladbach against Borussia Dortmund -- a result that drops Gladbach into last place.

Steve Cherundolo and Hannover 96 won, 1-0, at Bayer Leverkusen to move up to seventh place in the Bundesliga.

Hamburg SV's Benny Feilhaber is back to playing with the club's reserve squad, which beat Borussia Dortmund reserves, 2-0, in Third Division play. HSV's other American, Preston Zimmerman, was a second half sub.

In the Netherlands top division, Michael Bradley played the final 27 minutes in a 2-1 loss to FC Twente and received a yellow card.
