Maryland lands Mr. Michigan Townsend

[MEN'S RECRUITING] In one of the first major signing announcements of the 2008 men's recruiting season, Maryland signed Michigan prep star Casey Townsend, who has graduated a semester early and will join the Terrapins in the spring semester.

Townsend, who attended Traverse City West High School and played club ball for Vardar, is the first player in Michigan history to be named the state's Mr. Soccer twice in his career.

Townsend is considered one of the top 10 men's recruits for 2008. The National Letter of Intent (NLI) Signing Day is next Wednesday, Feb. 6.
