Big win for Onyewu; Michael Bradley's streak ends

[AMERICANS IN EUROPE] Standard Liege, with Oguchi Onyewu patrolling the central defense, beat Belgian Jupiler League leader Club Brugge away, 2-1, to go even on points with at the head of the standings. In the Netherlands, Michael Bradley's scoring streak ended in Heerenveen's 2-2 tie with lowly Heracles. Steve Cherundolo faced Bayern Munich in Germany.

Bradley had scored in Heerenveen's six previous league games to give him a team-leading 13 goals. With the tie, Heerenveen slipped from second place to fifth place.

Heerenveen is two points behind NAC, Ajax and Feyernoord, and 11 points behind leader PSV. The second- through fifth-place finishers will play off for a European Champions League spot. Heerenveen is one point ahead of sixth place Groningen.

In Germany, Hannover, with Cherundolo at right back, went down 3-0 to Bayern Munich on Luca Toni's hat trick. Cherundolo, who has played the full 90 in 19 of Hannover's 20 games this season, received his first yellow card of the season against Bayern. Hannover is now in ninth place.

Standard Liege remains the Belgian league's only undefeated team. Milan Jovanovic scored both goals for Standard Liege. Onyewu's appearance was his 96th in league play for Standard Liege, which he joined in 2004. He spent the first six months of 2007 on loan with English Premier League club Newcastle, making 11 appearances during the second half of the 2006-07 season.

Standard Liege last won the league title in 1983.
