New Mexico product Edgar Castillo
has been selected by Coach Hugo Sanchez
to Mexico's U-23 team
for its qualifying campaign for next summer's Olympics. Mexico's first-round play against Canada, Haiti and Guatemala kicks off March 12 in Carson, Calif. Last week, Castillo scored for
Santos Laguna against Chivas Guadalajara on an 18-yard shot after dribbling from near the halfway line.
The 21-year-old Castillo, who was born and raised in the USA, plays left back
for Santos and wide left in the midfield for Mexico's U-23 team. On Sunday, he played 90 minutes for Santos in its 3-0 win against Atlante. The win upped its Clausura 2008 record to 2-3-1
(win-loss-tie) and put it in first place of Group 2.
