FC Dallas falls in Rio Grande Plate

[MLS] FC Dallas fell to Tigres of Mexico, 2-1, in the first leg of the third annual Rio Grande Plate on Wednesday night at the Estadio Universitario in Monterrey.

Brazilian forward Ricardinho scored the lone FCD goal early in the second half on a long-range shot. The return leg of the series will be played at Pizza Hut Park later this year.

FCD used two completely different lineups in each half. To start, Ray Burse was in goal behind a three-man backline of Drew Moor, Duilio Davino and Alex Yi. The five midfielders were teenager Abdus Ibrahim on the right, Dax McCarty and Brazilian newcomer Andre Rocha in the center, Blake Wagner on the left, with Juan Toja playing behind forwards Arturo Alvarez and Kenny Cooper.

Tigres started only two players from the team that started Saturday in its 0-0 tie with Guadalajara.
