Galaxy, in Need of Trades, Sends Players Home

The David Beckham Road Show has moved on to South Korea where the Los Angeles Galaxy will play Seoul FC on Friday, but several Galaxy players, including Landon Donovan, did not make the trip -- some due to injuries, others to be traded, possibly, says the L.A. Times Grahame L. Jones. The club's roster has to be salary cap compliant by Monday, and so it appears that a few trades will be made while the team is in Asia.

Donovan and Edson Buddle were among those sent home because of injuries, but Kelly Gray, Kevin Harmse and Israel Sesay were not named coach Ruud Gullit's roster, suggesting that they could be on the block. Midfielder Kyle Martino, a regular starter last year, was not taken on the trip either, having already missed the Pan Pacific Championship.

Donovan, meanwhile, did not play in Hawaii due to tendinitis in his right knee. He will also likely miss the Galaxy's March 15 charity game at FC Dallas, but should be ready in time for the March 29 season opener at the Colorado Rapids. Buddle dislocated his right collarbone on Saturday following a clash with a Sydney FC defender, but he will not require surgery.
