[RECRUITING] Wake Forest, the 2007 NCAA Division I men's champion, announced a signing class, led by former U.S. under-17 national team players
Danny Wenzel and
Nick Millington, that is again one of the best in the country.
In particular, the incoming class
should be able to fill in for the loss of seniors
Julian Valentin and Patrick Phelan, who both played key defensive roles for the Demon Deacons.
The versatile Wenzel (Federal Way, Wash.) and Millington (Raleigh, N.C.) both played in midfield for the USA in U-17 World Cup qualifying. Wenzel went to the U-17 World Cup finals in South
Korea, where the USA reached the round of 16.
"Danny has a lot of experiences and I love his competitive nature," Vidovich said. "We look for Danny to help fill the holes left by
graduated seniors Pat Phelan and Julian Valentin."
The class also includes NSCAA/adidas Youth All-American
Luke Norman and NSCAA/adidas High School
All-American
Sean Haglund.
Other signees are
Kyle Adams (Fayetteville, Ga.),
Chris Estridge (Indianapolis, Ind.) and
Jesse Sokolow (Reston, Va.).
