FC Dallas is in Brazil, but forward Roberto Mina
Negotiations between him and the team have stalled again and he isn't listed on the
27-man roster that is being hosted at Brazilian club and partner Clube Atletico Paranaense's training facilities and adjacent hotel in Curitiba, Brazil.
Mina didn't play a league match
in 2007 season due to complications from an MCL injury he suffered in July, 2006, that required additional surgeries. He came to MLS in 2005 on loan from Ecuadorian club El Nacional and scored
seven goals in his first season but played only 16 games in 2006 (three goals, one assist).
MLS teams have inquired about trading for his rights but whether a possible trade might be
affecting negotiations isn't known. His base salary last year was $80,000 but FCD and MLS might have to pay him more to convert the loan into a transfer.
FC Dallas plays Paranaense
Thursday in the first leg of the annual USA-Brazil Challenge. The teams will contest the second leg at Pizza Hut Park March 22. Last year, CAP won its home leg, 3-1, before completing a sweep with
a 1-0 victory at PHP.
Its program kicks off Monday against Marucelli and continues Tuesday against the Paranaense under-20 team. After playing CAP at Kyocera Arena, it plays Avai
Fútbol Clube of the Brazilian second division on Saturday. FCD is scheduled to return March 11.
Midfielders Arturo Alvarez
and Dax McCarty
are training with the U.S.
under-23 team in Florida and will not travel to Brazil.
