Four Americans see action in Fulham loss

[AMERICANS ABROAD] Fulham fell, 2-0, to Newcastle, which hadn't won in its last 13 EPL games. For Fulham, in second-to-last place and four points in the relegation zone, Kasey Keller started in goal, forward Brian McBride played the first 66 minutes before being replaced by Clint Dempsey, and Eddie Johnson went the full 90 upfront. There was better news for Reading.

Fulham defender Carlos Bocanegra stayed on the bench.

Keller made a couple of good saves for the Cottagers but was beaten by Mark Vuduka (6th minute) and Michael Owen (83rd). The Times of London gave Keller a 7 rating (out of 10) while giving 5s to McBride, Johnson and Dempsey.

Reading's survival chances keep looking better. Goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann helped the Royals to a 2-1 win over Birmingham to kept them five points above the drop zone. (Reading's Bobby Convey did not see action.) Hahnemann leads the EPL in saves with 213.

Last-place Derby, however, with Eddie Lewis starting and Benny Feilhaber watching, again, fell, 1-0, to Middlesbrough for its 23rd loss of the season.
