UNC men sign three under-17 World Cup players

Coming off a 7-8-5 season, the University of North Carolina men's team was in need of a big recruiting class and got it with the signing of three players who represented the USA at the 2007 Under-17 World Cup in South Korea: forward Billy Schuler (Matchfit Academy), midfielder Kirk Urso (Sockers FC Chicago) and defender/forward Sheanon Williams (FC Greater Boston Bolts).

All three were a part of the U.S. U-17 Residency Program in Bradenton, Fla. Also signing were Arsenal FC defender/midfielder Jordan Gafa from San Diego and Casa Mia Bays midfielder/defender Chris Lebo from Telford, Pa.

"We are excited about the addition of the incoming freshman class this year," said Elmer Bolowich, who will be coaching his 20th season at Carolina in 2008.
