Lapira scores first two professional goals

Joe Lapira, the 2006 Hermann Trophy winner for Notre Dame, scored his first two goals for Norwegian second division club Nybergsund in a 4-0 win over Bryne FK.

Lapira had debuted for Ireland's national team after a sensational 2006 season and had a number of tryouts in England and Scotland but eventually settled on Norway's Adeccoligaen, where eight other Americans signed this season.

Recent Adeccoligaen signees are Jack Stewart, Lapira's former teammate at Notre Dame who played last season for Real Salt Lake, and Jay Needham, a 2006 Hermann Trophy finalist who passed on an offer from D.C. United to play for the USL's Puerto Rico Islanders in 2007.

Stewart didn't play for Moss against Hodd; Needham came on as a sub in Alta's 7-3 loss to Odd Grenland.

Former University of San Francisco defender Chris Rodd started for Bryne against Nybergsund, while former Creighton University keeper Matt Allen sat on the bench.

Former FC Dallas defender Clarence Goodson scored a goal for Start in a 3-3 tie at Honefoss, while ex-Los Angeles Galaxy defender Kyle Veris started for Hodd, which drew Moss, 2-2.
