Fairy tale season ends

[FRANCE] Amateur club Carquefou's fairly tale run in the French Cup ended when the fifth division club lost to relegation-threatened Paris St. Germain, 1-0. Portuguese veteran Pauleta's 28th goal in 23 French Cup games earned PSG the win before a sellout crowd of 40,000 in Nantes.

Carquefou, nonetheless, gave PSG a scare. It almost equalized late in the game, but PSG goalkeeper Jerome Alonzo parried a header from defender Pierre Mauget and a close-range shot from striker Idrissa N'doye.

Carquefou had beaten Marseille in the round of 16.

The French Cup's final four consists of PSG, Sedan, Amiens and Lyon, which is seeking its first league-cup double.
