North Carolina's
Anson Dorrance has assembled arguably the deepest women's recruiting class in the country with the signing of four incoming freshmen ranked
among the top 20 players in the country and the nation's top JC player -- all forwards.
Forwards
Courtney Jones (Mustang Fury, Calif.), the daughter
of former NFL star
Brent Jones,
Merritt Matthias (Vestavia Attack, Ala.),
Brittani Bartok (World Class, N.J.), and
Rachel Wood (Slammers FC, Calif.) and
Jessica McDonald (Phoenix
College) will boost the Tar Heel attack that scored only 56 goals in 2007 -- the fewest goals in the program's 29 years.
Matthias, Bartok and Wood are all members of the U.S. U-18
national team pool. McDonald played on the 2007 U.S. Pan-American Games silver medalist team.
