U.S. women kick off tour against Australia

[OLYMPIC COUNTDOWN] The U.S. women's national team plays its first game since the Concacaf qualifying tournament when it hosts Australia on Sunday at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.

The USA will then travel to Birmingham, Ala., to face Australia on May 3 at Legion Field and finish the tour on May 10 against Canada at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C.

Coach Pia Sundhage brought 25 players on the tour. Among the players who arrived in Cary on Monday night were Aly Wagner, who joined the national team for the first time in 2008 after recovering from double-hernia surgery in late January.

All 25 players will travel and train in the three cities, but Sundhage will suit up only 18 players for each match.

All the players expected to compete for spots on the 18-player Olympic roster are available with the exception of midfielder Angie Woznuk, who is still rehabbing a back injury.
