Monmouth's Wilson lands at promoted Austrian Bundesliga club

[AMERICANS ABROAD] Monmouth University forward Damon Wilson signed a three-year contract to play with Kapfenberg SV of Austria's T-Mobile Bundesliga.

Kapfenberg SV recently won the Second Division championship, earning the club promotion to the First Division.

Wilson, an all-region selection in 2007, helped lead Monmouth to its third straight Northeast Conference regular-season championship by leading the Hawks with seven goals and six assists.

"I am happy that Damon has this opportunity," stated Monmouth coach Rob McCourt. "Every kid that comes through my office has dreams of playing soccer professionally. Playing professionally in Europe is the icing on the cake and Damon is a good example for the younger guys out there."

Wilson spent his first two college seasons at Division III power Ohio Wesleyan.
