Czechs will be without Rosicky and Nedved

[EURO '08 COUNTDOWN] The Czech Republic will head to the European Championship next month without captain Tomas Rosicky and former European Player of the Year Pavel Nedved.

Rosicky underwent surgery to his injured knee tendon on Tuesday and will miss the tournament, while Coach Karel Brueckner resisted the temptation to ask Nedved to come out of retirement. The 35-year-old Nedved on Wednesday announced that he had extended his contract with Juventus for one more year.

The only newcomer is Brueckner's 23-player roster for training camp is Banik Ostrava striker Vaclav Sverkos. His final roster will be announced on May 28 after a home friendly against Lithuania.
