[U.S. SOCCER] Jonathan Spector
, the 22-year-old defender who plays for the English Premier League's West Ham, will undergo hip surgery and will be sidelined for
three to six months. He is thus dropped from the USA's roster for its friendly Wednesday against Spain and will miss this summer's Olympic tournament with the U.S. U-23s. Also unavailable for the
Spain friendly is Landon Donovan
, who has yet to recover from the groin injury that forced him to miss last week's 2-0 loss at England.
Spector suffered a torn labrum in his right
hip. Spector, who made 26 appearances - 13 starts - for West Ham in the 2007-08 season, last played on April 12 against Bolton.
From the initial roster for the Spain game, Coach Bob
also dropped defender Michael Orozco
and midfielder Ricardo Clark
Clark was the only U.S. player to have appeared in all four U.S. games this year.
The Spain-USA game will be broadcast live on ESPN360.com at 4 p.m. ET and delayed on ESPN2 (5:30 p.m. ET) and Galavision (7 p.m. ET/PT). U.S.
